Home and after the movie?
The broadcast: "Home" by Yann Arthus-Bertrand last night on France 2, beyond the buzz it did in the media and its distribution in a hundred countries had at least one merit, that of placing on the front of the news our little planet Earth.
Even if one is not fooled by the marketing side of things, because both the PPR as Yann Arthus-Bertrand who have created the event will benefit indirectly, but personally I will not throw opprobrium on them as they educate people on our planet, its evolution and ecology.
The film:
After seeing "home", the first question that I made is: What do I remember? And what is that people will remember?
For my part, I must admit, the power of images has tended to obscure some of the words and content, as it is easily soothed by the beautiful scenery and haunting music. So it's not a movie to see, but a film to see and review.
The second vision to better capture the content of the film, although that alarmist, not doing too much either and draws a conclusion that seems to me hardly debatable: the planet is in danger and we can not go on like this .
If there is a point that the film "Home" does not have enough forward, is the growing population of our planet:
World population has nearly tripled over the last 60 years
We are about 7 billion on the planet, when it had 2.5 billion people in 1950. How small planet can it absorb such a tidal wave of people in such a short time? Although the consumption of the population had remained constant, which is far from the case in developed countries, we could not provide all the basic needs. We must therefore stop the population growth, how you say?
Education and development are the factors that lead to a stabilization of population.
The military budget is 12 times more than development assistance, pull in the conclusions.
We have other key figures that seem important and on which all of us can do:
13 000 liters of water to make 1 kg of beef
Some will tell you, yes, but it is not individuals who consume the most water, but agriculture and industry (70%), and this is true, but ask yourself the question of "why they occur of oxen. " The answer is simple: to come on our plates, so reducing our meat consumption, we save water, not just because cattle also produce methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent than CO2 (14 years and remains trapped in the atmosphere) 1, not to mention it takes about 15kg of grain to make the same kg of beef. For more information on water and agriculture .
80% of our energy comes from fossil fuels
This is not because oil has dropped in recent months that we have found new oil fields. It's just that the effect of the crisis. Oil prices will inevitably rise in the coming years and even though experts do not agree on reserves, we must consider this energy as that of the past. Solar power is everywhere and yet we do not use hardly any. Although the costs and returns are inadequate, this energy is certainly one of the pillars of our future energy sources. Plus we will install, plus the cost will be low and significant research in this area. Although the government encourages us with tax credits to be equipped, it remains to be done in this area and the state and local governments should lead by example in all jurisdictions. All new construction of public buildings (schools, administrations ...) should comply with energy standards for low energy consumption. Establish a scrappage for heating with fossil fuels. And rather than pay one year after the tax credit for sustainable development, to a support upon purchase.
This is only an excerpt of what I get from the vision of the film "Home" by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. This may be simplistic to some, others will find it not at all clear , I think we have the cards. While this appears a bit utopian, I think all the individual initiatives are good and will have an impact because it is these same men and women who will take individual actions that after decisions in their businesses or put pressure on governing bodies to make a difference. Each of us may have ideas

What next? No shortage of ideas ... we are all one step at a time ... just put them end to end. With all the actions, the info I read on the net on sites like this one, I tell myself that we must not be that far to succeed in changing our lifestyles.

Hello,
Home, and after the movie?
Eat less meat, no cereals like wheat mutant, bio, pay attention to water, chemicals, full of ideas that have a direct impact on our health:
no dairy products of animal origin, cereals without mutated, no additives, our daughters have already eczema, rhinitis more than my husband and me over itching. See details http://sophieethugues.eklablog.com
Unfortunately this often begins with an individual and concern for our planet and then. But the main thing to be aware and do something for!
Sophie
Hello,
If awareness comes next, whatever, the important thing to do. For some, the engine will be saving money for example to all that is recovery of rainwater, heating etc. ... and this government have a role to play incentive. For others it will be the health or well-being, the key is to know what is best for us is also better for the planet. Next, we must be realistic, for the moment everything is going too slowly in the right direction, to move forward should be convinced that everyone manages to persuade five others to counter the lobbies of multinational corporations that do a little day and night time.
