Hyperactive AD / HD and gluten-free diet, balance sheet and summary

hyperactivity ADHD

After a year of gluten-free diet for Maverick, I thought it was time to take stock and a small summary of articles and a focus on the subject (bottom of page).

Eighteen months later:
For the past one year and a half Maverick follows a gluten-free diet without milk and with virtually no dye. It's not easy every day for him to follow this diet because it has a lot of stress for him and the family, gluten and milk are everywhere, even where one would least expect it. The hunt is open to labels You will find in sorbets, jars of olives, most prepared foods, meats, sweets etc ... But we also know how to decipher labels: starch (when the origin is not specified) modified starch (worse), milk, hides in the form of animal protein. There are often products with wheat as a thickener, it helps to put less commodity and compensate with wheat which is cheaper (chicken nuggets). In general, almost all junk food should be prohibited.

Where is Maverick?
Maverick follows a normal school, he now has eight and a half years and will be in CM1 in September, he changed schools for CE2 and it did him good. The regime has brought about a large concentration although it is far from perfect and that the road is still long. It's hard to learn things by heart, especially mathematics (that is a nightmare to learn the multiplication tables) but much less on issues and French.

The results are therefore encouraging in terms of its potential concentration, it is still against active (hyperactive) and people often ask: "when will it stop."
Well, he stops when he sleeps, so for us it is the only time during the holidays where you can be quiet, well almost because we so tired that you sleep well. We are therefore pleased with the result, but we are always on standby to see what might help even more, to go even better.

I will conclude with a Tuareg proverb:
"No matter if the road is long, so long ago that after a well"

Following your testimony, and as you look for other nature trails, I invite you to visit the blog above
    Good luck Nat

  4. Hello,

I stumbled upon your blog quite amazing seeking information about hyperactivity! I found tons of information theory in the books, but the most interesting for me is the information practices that demonstrate that the actual experience is always different!

Do you think the path you have chosen is followed by many other parents? In fact I would have lots of questions to ask you ... If you agree to respond to email me! =)

    Thank you in advance!

  5. Hello Magalie,
To answer your question, no we do not believe that the path we took to be followed by many others because we think outside the box. Far from wanting to blame parents who rely on the unique path of medication (methylphenidate) we wanted to explore the reasons we call this "imbalance" and help to better understand Maverick without drugs with a psychotropic drug for many years . Our goal is to rebalance the body as naturally as possible without falling into the excesses and pseudo sectarian medicine. We do not pretend to say that we completely succeeded, but the improvements amounted to sufficient that we continue on this path, knowing that the road is long and difficult, in any case much more than giving a pill every day to our children.
If you want to ask more questions, thank you to do so through the comments, in order to benefit all readers answers to questions that they too may arise.
    See you soon.

  6. For the mother of Maverick, and all other ...

    Hello and Congratulations!

The réglime without gluten and casein has also worked well for my son.

I did 18 months in a full extra strict (in addition, I also had to remove all sugars - including fructose and honey, soy, phosphates, yeast, fruit containing some of the arabinose, etc ....

I do not know what a great doctor put you on this path but the one who took charge Elliot encouraged me by explaining that it was not definitive, forever ... It was to stop the symptoms of hyperactivity to heal his intestines, his erradiquer candidiasis and detoxify ... What a program!

You need to find articles (in English) the "Leaky Gut Syndrome" ... I also have a few in French that I can send by email attachment but I do not think it is possible here (contact me beaufays @ abchallenge.com to receive them).

What it is very short, there is a problem in the intestines, which are no longer impervious to some (too) large proteins. These (casein and gluten) can not be "broken" and passes the intestinal barrier (leaky drain =) to be found in the blood, where a complex chemical process, it becomes opiate. In other words, a child with the "leaky gut syndrome" is actually under the influence of morphine.

Morphine is endomorph (it lulls!), The child must make every effort to stay awake despite the fact "opiate". It is like any intelligent person: he s'hyperactive!
(Note that the Rilatine or Ritalin is an amphetamine that stimulates hence the "success" of the remedy the symptoms because it acts not only on the cause.

The specialist who handled Elliot also called for a cure Magnesium + Vitamin B6 (7 years later, I begin to find articles on the subject).

In the same vein, I still give baths regularly to my children where I add a few tablespoons Epsum Salt (magnesium chloride). Even today, I note that this has a real calming and soothing effect on everyone.

When asked how a specialist can be attributed to a "leaky gut syndrome", he replies that it is often a combination of bad circumstances, together or separately the following items be considered in the causes of the syndrome:
    - The taking (possibly repeated) of antibiotics without compensating by a long course of probiotics
    - Candida (a fungus that fits everywhere and feeds mainly sugar), it is very long and hard to get rid of the only existing drugs (Daktarin style) have side effects harmful to the organism. To get rid of candida, avoid all sugars and cleanse the intestines with such a course of garlic.

Elliot had two and a half years and I followed this plan + supplements (mainly probiotics, garlic, magnesium and vitamin B6) for 12 months ... Then we repeated the tests in the lab and "leaks" were apparently not sealed, so I was advised to continue for at least 6 months.
Symptoms dhyperactivité Elliot had almost disappeared and it should be noted that the improvement was clearly visible after dune or two weeks!

We repeated the tests in the lab after 6 months (ie 18 in total) and it was good! I have returned slowly to the forbidden foods elliot. But at least at home he drinks only rice milk (no cow milk) and as much as possible we avoid gluten and dairy products.

Today, Elliot is nine years old and it continued over the course regime but now I am faced with a diagnosis "HP" (high potential or "gifted" for French) that I find it hard to manage. It seems that HP are often hyperactive and often hyperactive HP ...
I call it the "Hahpi" (hyperactive, high-potential).

Feel free to contact me for advice, testimonials and recipes sutout!

    Elliot's mother

  7. Hello Mom Elliot,

Thank you for your interesting testimony.

  8. Hello,
I'm trying to look into this matter, I eliminated gluten and dairy products for my 11 year old son and a half, but the results are not conclusive after one month. I have also a lack of information about food and diet ... I'm looking for books and references ... The plan is binding financièremnt too am single and the mother for months ... not always ok.
I was advised of the lactose-free milk, but I understand that this is not casein-free milk? My son is addicted to sugar (I noticed) and this milk now ... My naturophate prescribed me chromium to eliminate all sugar cravings ...
Other than that, it is naturally attracted by food good for him, etc. .. Asian cuisine.
Should we eat like in another country? I find this illogical if we should eat local produce ...
Why do we cram food industry products harmful to our children?
The psychological school of my son told me, years ago qq I should not like to turn to diets because they were only mirrors to enhance certain lobbies?
I do not know what to think ...
I am discouraged. I think to turn to the desensitization NAET, then to the Tomatis Method ...
Thank you for your suggestions and interventions ..

  9. Hello,

At first, are you sure that your son has an intolerance to gluten and dairy products (test).
On the other hand, it is true that the plan is binding but followed it can be effective. The results obtained after about 3 months minimum. You have to be patient and strict. We must eliminate dyes and additives. It is difficult at first but over time you get used to.
You can read several books including "Food without gluten or dairy products" by Marion Kaplan. Also see sites on the net remaining vigilant to the information. Soy can replace milk for a variety of recipes. We must balance the meal of course.
As for lobbying, see the drugs .... This is the pharmaceutical industry richer. Try a diet remains healthier for the body. To find out if it really is the problem of your son or another problem.
    Cordially

  10. Hello,
Thank you, I confess I am a little lost ... but I'll try again and I will read this book.
I will now ... otherwise cuissine My son made the effort too.
I just read the very interesting book: The Hidden Drug - food phosphates cause behavioral problems, school problems and juvenile delinquency Herta Hafer.

thank you for your help, it is precious to me

    beautiful day

  11. Hello,

Have you ever heard of NAET method. This is a fantastic approach to everything related intolerance and other food allergies or not. I'll let you find out a little better on your side. Personally it was a wonderful discovery for my daughter. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. :)
Gentle waves and thoughts to you and Maverick.

    Em

  12. Hello,

I myself have undergone desensitization NAET and it's great too! I wonder if I have to do tests for gluten and dairy products, or if I can do it directly by the Kinesiology NAET therapist? This is a track that I look now, while maintaining a diet ... I've talked with my former therapist NAET and tell myself that possible for sugars, gluten ...
I do not know if qqu'un has had this experience with a hyperactive child? interested ca ...

good day and thank you for your information!
    dawn

  13. After testing our two children, it turned out they were intolerant to gluten and casein, blood test results were negative but the urinary peptides showed very high levels (lab in Geneva, Switzerland). For our two children we are almost one year plan and for the older 8ans1 / 2, and as we reached a real change in behavior more concentration and weight gain, it is said also that neurotoxic I think it wants to say everything. The smallest is not too convincing result but it is a little quieter. It is true that society has changed, as we see fewer people and fewer guests are, for sure ...

  14. @ Hello
Thank you for your testimony, it's a long way for each child must continue to seek every progress made is an encouragement for both parents and children.

  15. Hello,
I enclose the details of the lab in Switzerland who performed urine tests, laboratory MGD Route des Acacias in Geneva. Hope this can help many people and especially our little bits.

  16. Hello Nes,
    thank you for the address.

  17. Hi all,
I was frankly surprised by what I read, in fact, I suffer from ADD without hyperactivity which was diagnosed this year, more intolerant to lactose and gastric problems I expect the results of my tests to see if it's not a gluten intolerance! What I Etton, however, the link between ADD and intolerance, and I would like to have your lights at this point, it would help me really to understand and accept, too, because already the TDA is not easy to manage, be able to track its origin I would be very helpful.
I await your response and thank you in advance!

  18. Hello Merina
I suggest you read the following article:
    http://blog.sansgluten.fr/hyperactivite-tdah/test-intolerance-gluten-et-a-la-caseine.html

  19. thank you very much, I just read the article, and I think I will submit to the test too!
if you have other bucket I am, I confess it left me on my hunger!
I would do research on my side if I find something interesting, I will share.
however, bothers me a question: is what we can diagnose someone who is already a regime gluten allergy?? or is there a way to find someone who was already the plan, because I confess that by dint of having sore I ended limited in terms of food, and prepared myself my dishes which are mainly proteins and vegetables!
    thank you again

Hello everyone, I hope you are well, here are two very interesting sites, precisely it is mentioned that the tests mentioned precedemments are not fully reliable for the diagnosis of gluten intolerance, but more reliable for celiac disease!
I also ask you if you please address the psychological proficient or neurologists for diagnosis of ADHD!
    thank you in advance
    good day

  22. hello,
I followed your story with great interest because we have a hyperactive child with attention deficit disorder and dyslexia .. we do not want him to follow and give it heavy treatments of homeo with spirulina ( iron supplements help sense the concentration) .. Unfortunately, there are very, very difficult day ... your testimony helps me a lot since being abroad, we can not rely on outside help (the Dominican Republic acuse a fairly significant delay in general medicine, so in this kind of problem ... ....). So we'll try to find a lab to test for intolerance to gluten and casein, but the regime is difficult because we do not find any flour other than wheat, and the rays are absent from organic supermarkets ... ...
Finally, we will explore a new track! thank you

  23. Hello,
I want to know where your child at school ever to do you it, in what class is he, what is its concentration? I have a 12 year old ADD and I look for solutions. My son is very difficult to eat and I wonder how to implement this revolution in his diet? Your child does not eat in the canteen? Thank you in advance,
    Sat
